Student Community
In the student area you will find activities, courses and workshops related to Spanish and Catalan language and culture (as a foreign language, second language and heritage language). They can be taken independently or complement the Spanish and/or Catalan classes offered by the school in the specific language and culture courses for families moving to Barcelona (kids, teens and adults, the whole family). Mamas and babies, Saleta literària y Salita literaria are offered weekly. Pedra, paper, tisores, Salón literario and workshops on Barcelona are occasional activities and will always take place on Saturday afternoons (3-4.30 pm). The first once per month, the second once every two months and the third once per term.

Conversation meetings are an ideal opportunity to practice your Spanish or Catalan with other students but this is an atypical conversation group. It is designed more as a space to share and care for each other among mums who want to practice their Spanish or Catalan. So, it is a bilingual activity, without a specific level (although it is advisable to have at least a B1), face-to-face and free of charge with a maximum of 8 mums and their babies. Each session begins with a proposal from the teacher with a theme related to motherhood and parenting. The conversation is created by all mums. At the end of the session, we review some of the most important grammatical and vocabulary aspects of the session, clarify any last doubts and/or modify any mistakes made during the session. The focus is on interaction, fluency and sociolinguistic competence. But above all, we focus on ourselves and our babies.
On rainy days we will meet at the school house (08005). On non-rainy days we will meet at Playa Mar Bella (Poblenou).

Reading, writing and creativity club for little great readers (6-9 years old). Once a week we will meet to work with texts and didactic activities in your heritage language (Catalan and/or Spanish).
We will use the beautiful collection Pequeña & Grande, from Alba publishing house, with which we will discover important figures from the history of Spain and Latin America. And, also, in the fabulous Pantera magazine, from the publishing house Savanna Books. And from this material we will create an endless number of didactic and creative activities, among all of us.
This is a place for everyone. To discover, share, express and dream.
Pequeña & GRANDE / Petita & GRAN
April Clara Campoamor
May Pablo Picasso
June Carmen Amaya
These great figures of our history are pretexts to develop linguistic, pragmatic, socio-cultural and transversal skills; critical thinking; as well as creativity and imagination. Each theme gives way to a didactic task designed by Mama back to school consisting of reading comprehension activities, written expression, grammar maps, crafts and other creative tasks, games and songs to practise the language in context. Didactic tasks supported by the pedagogical worksheets of the collection Pequeña & GRANDE, from the Barcelona publishing house Alba, and the magazine Pantera.

This club is open to students of Spanish at level B2 or above and also to native speakers. Every other month we will meet to work on texts by Spanish and Latin American women writers. Some of these texts I discovered, studied and worked on during my time at university, especially in the subject of Literature and Feminism. Others, in different theatre training courses: Theatre of the Oppressed and Dance Theatre. Above all, in the latter, where we carried out an artistic project on memory and gender for 3 years in the Barceloneta Civic Centre (Barcelona). And many, most of these writers, in the years of research, while I was writing my doctoral thesis on the presence of Lorca's theatre in contemporary Spanish women playwrights. I am also honoured to share the organisation and realisation of the salón with Fernanda Machado (LinkedIn), actress, theatre director, researcher and teacher in schools and universities in São Paulo. Fernanda will take care of the Latin American writers and I will take care of the Spanish ones.
We provide the texts and we invite and accompany you to explore them. Reading and writing between all of us. You don't need previous knowledge of anything to participate. If you have knowledge, you're very welcome; if you don't, you're very welcome. This is a place for everyone. To share, listen and rethink.

Once a term the school offers workshops about Barcelona for students with a B1 level or above. The workshops are designed for two types of students:
The less touristy Barcelona, the best places for children in the city, Barcelona's neighbourhoods, university life in Barcelona, the city's main festivals… the list is infinite.
The second type are students who want to continue learning with a specific study related to literature, art or film related to the city.
Can you imagine continuing to learn and practice Spanish or Catalan through a personal interest? If you can, then these workshops are definitely for you.
These workshops are for you if you want to practice your Spanish or Catalan; improve your oral comprehension and expression; and you love learning new expressions and vocabulary and are interested in Barcelona's culture.
