The school offers a specific Spanish and/or Catalan language and culture courses to accompany families (kids, teens and adults) who are moving to Barcelona or have just arrived in the city. Also, it offers fully personalised private Spanish and Catalan language classes for adult students.
If you are interested in other types of activities, workshops or more specific courses for kids, teens and adults (such as conversation groups, family activities, reading and writing clubs and culture workshops), you will find them in the community space for students.

Moving to Barcelona? Let me accompany you :)
This is a course for families who for some reason are moving to Barcelona or have just arrived in the city. It is a course to accompany them in this great linguistic and cultural change for the whole family. You should know that the official languages in Barcelona are Catalan and Spanish. Catalan is the language of instruction in schools, except in the subject of Spanish Language and Literature, and in universities. It is also the institutional and administrative language of Barcelona. You will see that, together with Spanish, it will play a major role in your daily life and that of your children. Most Barcelonians are bilingual, so Barcelonians communicate in Spanish or Catalan indifferently. And, more and more Barcelonians speak English and other international languages. So there are many possibilities to communicate. However, learning the official languages of Barcelona will open more doors in your professional, social and personal life.
Both Spanish and Catalan will play an important role in your daily life, and even more so with children. And I accompany you in this process because I know how important it is to feel accompanied and understood while living abroad with my family (especially since I am living with my family in London). Situations like standing in the queue, waiting for your little one to come out, surrounded by parents speaking Spanish or Catalan and not feeling confident to participate for fear of making a mistake. Or, in the hospital, not really knowing how to express what is happening to your child or not really understanding what the doctor is telling you. Defending yourself in social contexts that are handled completely differently in your country is not easy: meetings with teachers, breaking the ice in the lift, birthday celebrations; or even defending yourself when someone disrespects you. These are some of the many examples that I experience every day and I can assure you that I am extremely grateful when someone accompanies me or has accompanied me in the process. In that day-to-day life abroad that sometimes becomes a ball. However, with the help of a local, who is also a teacher of Spanish and Catalan, those moments become much lighter. We will work on all this and much more and we will accompany you on the course. A course totally designed for you and your family to make your experience in Barcelona an incredibly lovely one.
Spanish and Catalan Language and culture lessons

Duration, timetable and price: There are two possibilities, ´50 or ´25 sessions. We do not offer single lessons but monthly plans (1, 2 or 3 lessons per week). You can consult the timetables and the price of the monthly plan in the Scheduling section of the school's website.

Personalised language classes for adults at all levels (A1-C2)
Each session begins with an image, video or any creative trigger that will introduce the theme of the class and will serve as a brainstorming and warm-up. From this initial warm-up we work on grammar and vocabulary with all language skills: oral expression, written expression, reading or written comprehension and listening or oral comprehension, without forgetting phonetics and intonation. The focus is always on oral language interaction or conversation.
To do so, we rely on playful activities created with all possible materials (textual and everyday). We recreate and adapt the materials to the needs and interests of each student but we do not follow any specific manual. At the end of the session we review the most important aspects of the session, clarify the last doubts and/or modify possible mistakes collected throughout the session.
*The school don´t offer individual classes outside my children's school hours. But if you are interested in classes for children outside their school timetable, we have a activity where we work with Spanish or Catalan as a heritage language through reading, writing and creativity. It is a face-to-face, quarterly activity.
